Wedding questions

  • How do we make a wedding photography booking?
    • You can pop me an email via my contact page filling in your details, wedding date and requirements, and then I can confirm if I am available for your chosen date. I will send you a price list for you to look over and then if you are happy to continue I will arrange a meeting with you to show you my portfolio and samples.
During this meeting I will give you a booking form so you can decide whether you’d like to make a confirmed booking. All you’ll need to do is fill out the form and include a £150 deposit to secure the date.

  • What is your wedding photography style?
    • I would describe my wedding photography style as natural and relaxed.
I like to include a good mixture of natural reportage photography with couple’s portraits, group shots and details shoots, all together giving the best view of your day. Please do check out my gallery section for lots of recent wedding photographs.

  • Do you take traditional wedding photographs?
    • I do take traditional family pictures in addition to my more lifestyle documentary style. While they may not be as exciting as some of my more informal images, I do appreciate the value and the history behind the traditional family portrait. Since each wedding is unique, I decide, in discussion with you, how much time is spent on traditional groups.

  • Will I get the option of colour or black & white wedding photographs?
    • I photograph in colour and then present a lovely mixture of image in colours and black & white, I go with what each picture looks best as and how the style suits your day. However if you prefer all colour or all black & white I can accommodate this too.

  • How long will it take to get our images?
    • Your images will be ready within 3 weeks of your wedding. If you wish I will initially upload the images onto a password protected web gallery for you to view, and share with friends and family and I will also deliver them to you on DVD or USB.

  • Will the images be edited before presentation?
    • All images are individually assessed for colour and tone, and edited appropriately. Blemishes and distractions are then taken care of before presentation. If fine art prints or albums are ordered, a little more editing will go into the selected images.

  • Who owns the copyright to the wedding photographs, can I print my own?
    • Of course with the DVD or USB you can share the images and print your own photographs directly from there, the photographer always retains the copyright which means you cannot sell them on to third parties, but I happily give you the permission to personally print and share as you wish.

  • What if my family and friends want prints from the wedding day?
    • That’s OK you can share and print images for them from your DVD or USB for free. Also you can find in my album price list various types of books suitable for parents and for friends.

  • What other presentation options are there?
    • I have a variety of beautiful and lasting presentation options. Parent’s albums and coffee table books, fine art prints, framed prints and wall decors. The actual prices will depend on the number of prints, and the type and size of albums or frames. Full details are available on request.

  • How does the album design process work?
    • After you have viewed and picked your images, I personally design the album layout, to ensure that it accurately reflects the events of your special day. This can then be proofed via email. Once you’re happy with the design, I will deliver your album to you. This process takes about four to five weeks.

  • How many images are in my album?
    • This depends on the option and album you choose. I recommend that you don’t over fill your wedding album. It’s best to let the images speak for themselves. Keep it simple.

  • Can I customize the package further?
    • Additional hours, engagement photo session, thank you cards, and albums – these can all be added on as desired.

  • What if we cancel our wedding?
    • First and foremost you must tell all your suppliers, including me. This should be done in writing and at the earliest opportunity. Unfortunately, in most cases the deposit is not refundable, unless I can rebook the date again. If you are cancelling in order to reschedule, then hopefully we can just move the date and nothing will be lost.

Portrait session / Family and baby session questions

  • Where does a session take place?
    • My sessions can take place at my home studio, your home or at your favourite location, whichever you prefer. I can combine some pictures at home with images taken at your family’s favourite places – such as the park, the beach, or the woods. I’m happy to take pictures pretty much anywhere.

  • How long will our portrait session last?
    • Sessions tend to last few hours. If you choose outdoor session we will incorporate the timing with sunset time. For the family session with younger children we may start a bit earlier and session will last up to 4 hours, as your children will probably have some breaks for snacks during photo shooting.

  • Is there anything we should bring?
    • If we are shooting out and about, then we would take the normal things you would have with you for a day at the park – the children’s favourite toys if they always have them with them, perhaps a ball or a cricket bat; also snacks and a drink; wipes. For indoor shooting I would recommend to bring few sets of clothing for you and your children to change.

  • What should we wear?
    • Simple, plain-coloured clothes tend to work best, as well as clothes with a subtle pattern. It’s best to avoid bold stripes and checks as these don’t work well in pictures, and try not to have half the family dressed in white and the other half in black as the contrast in the images can be distracting. The most important thing to me is that you are relaxed and comfortable in what you are wearing.

  • Are you able to remove imperfections from the images?
    • It is no problem to remove the superficial spots and scratches that are an everyday occurrence in children’s lives.

  • How many images will we receive?
    • On average, I will present you with forty images, all of which will stand alone as beautiful images in their own right but that will also, when viewed together, tell a wonderful story from your day.

  • How long until we see our pictures?
    • Usually I will be able to show you your pictures within two weeks of your session.

  • What happens if my child is ill?
    • If your child is ill, then I ask you to let me know as soon as possible and I can postpone your session. I wouldn’t dream of forcing a sick child to have a photo shoot, as this would be miserable for everyone involved. It’s much better to wait until they are feeling better and we can all have an amazing time taking your pictures.
